Zambia needs to rethink its food and agriculture system in order to improve diversity in both food production and consumption, according to the new report “Sustainable Diets for All: Agriculture, food systems, diets and nutrition in Zambia”. The report finds that every US dollar of investment in proven nutrition interventions could potentially generate around USD18 in economic returns from improved health and productivity of the population.

The second IDEAJAM was held on 18 April 2017 with the theme of gender sensitivity in social enterprises and organizations. The Business Model Canvas Workshop: Women-in-Power Edition focused on building gender-sensitive social enterprises and applying a business model to organizations and campaigns that increases their sustainability.

The International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT) is observed every year on May 17. It aims to stimulate international events that raise awareness of the human rights violations suffered by of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people.

Philip Mutahi Ngunjiri is a commercial coffee and dairy farmer in Nyeri County. He learned about biogas through the Kenya Biogas Program’s (KBP) Biogas Extension Service Providers based in the region and immediately got interested in installing one. “It cost me a total of Ksh 66,000 (equivalent to 571 USD) to install this 6-cubic-meter digester in July 2016. Biogas is easy to use, cheap, and clean as I no longer need to scrub soot off my cooking utensils,‘’ he said.

Buikwe District is located in the central part of Uganda. With approximately 98,000 households engaged directly or indirectly in small-scale farming, agriculture is the district’s main economic activity.
