In 2000 Hivos was one of the founders of Alliance2015, our principal strategic partnership in Europe, which is a strategic network of eight European secular development organisations engaged in humanitarian and development activities.
The network takes its name from the UN Millennium Development Goals, which need to be achieved by 2015. The other members are Acted (France), Concern (Ireland), Welthungerhilfe (Germany), Cesvi (Italy) and People In Need (Czech Republic) and HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Switzerland.
Alliance2015 members work together in the areas of emergency aid and development cooperation. We aim to fight poverty more effectively by cooperating on various levels, working together in the least developed countries and influencing and campaigning together at EU level. By joining forces, we can meet the challenges and changing demands of our work and shape public and political opinion in Europe. Established to strengthen our members' contribution to the Millennium Development Goals, we intend to keep this commitment towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
A recent example of our collaboration is the Addressing Root Causes fund, implemented through the Alliance2015 Lebanon Consortium by ACTED, Cesvi, Concern and Hivos, that aims to address root causes of conflict and instability in Lebanon through the creation of sustainable income-generating and livelihood opportunities for vulnerable populations. It is funded by the ARC Initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands over a period of three years from 2017 to 2019. You can read more about this programme in the ARC factsheet.
