The Kenya Market-led Horticulture Project has reached the end of its funding period and is now finalized.

Aim

To build sustainable, inclusive, climate resilient horticulture value chains and markets in Kenya that benefit small and medium-sized farmers.

Where

Kenya

Why:

Poor food safety, high post-harvest food losses and the exclusion of small and medium-sized (SME) farmers from value chains are limiting the economic growth and social benefits of fruit and vegetable markets in Kenya.

How

HortIMPACT collaborates with commercial suppliers in selected horticulture value chains to change this. The project trains SME farmers and farmer groups in innovative solutions and technologies from the private sector to improve production and storage of fruits and vegetables and compete in commercial value chains. HortIMPACT also promotes participation of women and young people in commercial horticulture value chains.

Period

2015-2019
