We are currently seeking to appoint a progressive, creative and ambitious Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our team of change-makers in The Hague, the Netherlands.
We are searching for a COO who can lead us through a period of vital transformation. With recent changes in the sector, we must make structural changes to the way we operate in order to achieve our mission. The next COO will be responsible for putting in place the necessary systems to support staff across regional networks to deliver high quality output and foster a culture of accountability where each can contribute towards the overall global mission.
Candidate profile and responsibilities
We are looking for an outstanding strategic leader who will play a pivotal role in determining and implementing overall organisational strategy, as well as lead the Finance, IT, Human Resources, Facilities and Quality departments, among others. As a statutory Director on the two-person Executive Board, the COO will be a critical player in the Senior Management Team, responsible for business planning and balancing our need for impact with the need for organisational sustainability.
With sharp financial and operational instincts, s/he will positively challenge the status quo and help us evolve, ensuring that Hivos can respond to changes in policy and practice in a timely manner. As a trusted collaborator and partner to the CEO, the successful candidate will have the commercial nose, operational knowledge, and financial acumen to set out the right strategic direction for organisational change and long-term sustainability.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record of driving change, organisational development, financial management, human resources, and IT across diverse geographies and sectors. S/he will also have experience in international organisations, particularly with regional and country level operations. Crucially, the successful candidate will have strong people management skills, the confidence to lead, inspire and motivate multi-disciplinary teams, and most importantly, a strong personal commitment to the vision and aims of Hivos.
What we offer
The salary structure of the Hivos EB is linked to the civil servant salary scales of the Netherlands, BBRA. For this position the salary scales BBRA 16 or 17 are applicable depending on expertise and experience of the selected candidate. Secondary benefits include pension, travel costs, phone and other communication facilities and a sabbatical of six weeks after five years in post.
