Job context

Hivos is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the vacancy of (Junior) Project Officer in our Sustainable Food thematic area and our Sustainable Diets for All (SD4All) program. The position is for a period of one year.

As a Junior Project Officer you will be part of the Sustainable Food team at the Hivos Global Office in the Netherlands. You will support the Hivos food portfolio (1 day/week) and more specifically the Sustainable Diets for All (SD4All) program (3 days/week). This program is part of a partnership agreement with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The international SD4All team is based in six countries. You will work closely with the Program Manager and the other SD4All team members at Global Office, and with our consortium partner the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) based in the UK.

Your responsibilities

As Junior Project Officer, you help manage the SD4All Program in the following areas:

 

  • successful implementation of the project, in accordance with donor agreements, annual plans and budgets
  • intake of partner organizations, monitoring their activities and assessing their reports
  • preparing reports in compliance with donor and project guidelines
  • communication and partner/donor relationship management
  • organizing project and team related activities and events
  • updating and completing project administration in the Hivos system
  • contributing to project development and fundraising

You will support the Sustainable Food team by preparing annual plans and reports, and organizing team meetings and learning sessions.

You are answerable to the SD4All Program Manager in the Green Society Department.

Your profile

We are looking for someone who can work under pressure and who is well organized, independent, flexible, critical, thorough, and consistent. You have:

  • an academic level of working and thinking, preferably in a relevant discipline, such as Food Systems, Agriculture, International Development Cooperation, Economics or Political Science
  • one to three years’ relevant work experience, preferably in the non-profit sector and in an international environment
  • good analytical, planning and problem-solving skills
  • experience with project cycle management
  • experience or interest in working with innovative approaches and actors
  • good knowledge of MS office, in particular Word and Excel
  • experience working in a team
  • a team player attitude with good communication and social skills in English, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of Spanish or French an asset.
