The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) team at Hivos is seeking qualified candidates for the position of: Project Officer for our project Resource Of Open Minds (R.O.O.M)/Creative Twinning in Lebanon and Egypt. R.O.O.M./Creative Twinning is a global programme and it supports the creative work of a new generation of online artists, musicians, filmmakers and content creators who investigate and challenge the status quo in the societies in which they live. We aim to contribute to the diversification of dialogue, debate and dissent in society.
From January 2019 onwards, R.O.O.M/Creative Twinning MENA enters a new two year phase with the support of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency until December 2020. In this new phase we will focus our activities more on Egypt, where we closely work with a local partner and with a Dutch gaming company. The target regions are marginalized cities and neighbourhoods, specifically Upper Egypt. The to be implemented activities are summer schools, workshops in art, media and technology, grants for creative hubs and artists, capacity building workshops, a gaming component and a final showcase event.
Lead the financial and non-financial arrangements, planning and reporting with the local partners in Lebanon and Egypt and organize meetings to check progress.
Make sure the M&E is being implemented in coordination with DMEL Officer in the Hague
Produce narrative and financial reports for Hivos and the back donor in accordance with Hivos and donor requirements
Registration of the project in the Hivos project administration system
You are overall answerable to the Director MENA programme at Hivos and for programmatic content to the Global Programme Manager-Freedom of Expression in the 21st century R.O.O.M
You have a masters’ degree in social sciences, arts, humanities, or other relevant fields. Affinity with the cultural and media sector in the Middle East and North Africa. Possess excellent project management and administration skills with at least 3 years’ experience in a similar position. You have an entrepreneurial spirit and working attitude, affinity with project management and financial administration. A results oriented person with strong conceptual, analytical and networking skills. A team player with strong social and interpersonal skills and experience of working with people from different cultural backgrounds. Possess excellent communication skills in English and Arabic, you are independent and a decisive decision maker.
What we offer
We offer a stimulating work environment in a professional international organization with very dedicated staff. Employment is offered as soon as possible for the period of one year with possible extension for a longer period. Depending on your experience your salary will be up to, based on a 16-hour workweek and Hivos Lebanon scale 10. Travel costs are compensated accordance with internal regulations and legal requirements. You will be subscribed to NSSF and a health insurance package is offered.
